Since Jeff was working again yesterday, Rachael, Nick, & I got up bright & early (well, early for us, anyway!) and headed out to several yard sales with Darla & Gracie. After lunch at King Gyros, Darla had to run to Josh's baseball game, so I picked up Thomas & took all the kids to see the Hannah Montana movie. It was actually better than I thought it would be. When we pulled up to the theater, there were several fire trucks in the parking lot and all of the patrons were standing in the parking lot. After several minutes, they let us in. I never did find out what caused all of the commotion...
Typically, Rachael has her geography co-op on Thursdays, but it was canceled this week. It was so beautiful outside, that we took the day off. Rachael is currently reading 'The Bridge to Terabithia' and hasn't been able to put it down, so I just let her read all morning. Around 2pm, Darla & Diana came over and brought the kids. Josh, Gage, Ross & Nick had fun running around pretending to shoot/stab/slice each other up (or whatever it is that boys that age do!) Thomas, Rachael, & Gracie painted some wooden bird houses that my mom had sent home. Then around 7:30pm, Lori brought Sara, Joe, & Jesse over while she and Curt went to a Dave Ramsey talk at their church. The kids had so much fun! We are used to having older kids over all the time, but Nick rarely gets the chance to have the younger kids stay over. He & Sara were particularly fun to watch. They're only a month apart in age, and have been in co-op together since they were babies. It's fun watching them grow up together!
I finally got around to downloading my pictures...
The day before Rachael's birthday party, we had a bunch of kids over for the day. Believe it or not, it's easier for me to get things done when I have a house full of kids. They all get along so well and keep each other occupied!
Today we went roller skating with our homeschool co-op. We were so happy to see Claudia there. Since returning to public school, we don't get to see her very often.
Nick didn't skate, of course, but luckily, there were enough of the younger co-op kids there that he didn't miss out. He had fun playing on all of the arcade games and munching at the snack bar. He was also able to get out and do the "Cha-Cha Slide" in his sock feet right before the rink closed. He thought that was the coolest!
Rachael fell and twisted/sprained her wrist, so she's decided NOT to go skating at her upcoming birthday party!
We went over to Darla's house this afternoon to discuss the elementary Sunday School curriculum. Since our church has changed recently to include a more family-integrated format, Diana, Darla, & I have begun writing the curriculum for the elementary students. After the meeting, Diana & I took the kids to McDonalds to play.
The first picture is Nick wearing Thomas' hat and being goofy. Rachael thought it made him look like one of the seven dwarfs...
We headed up to our new place today. Each of us hurting in places we didn't even know existed! When we arrived at the new place, we had just opened up the back of the truck when our friends Lisa & Dan arrived to help. Within a few more minutes, Diana & Andy showed up and Mindy called to say that her husband Sam was on his way. What took 19 hours to load, took less than an hour to unload! We are so blessed to have such amazing friends!
This staircase was the only obstacle that we had to deal with. I LOVE the split staircase, but it's not very conducive to moving!
