Day 178 - Thank God for our friends!
Thursday, June 26, 2008
I've actually had this talk! We have some homeschool aquaintances who have a very different lifestyle and beliefs than we do. We recently went to a home where Narnia is banned because of the "wizardry" influences, and college is discouraged for girls, because they should never hold a job outside the home. These are very nice, Christian people, but it would be very hard for me to create a true friendship with people who are so judgmental. I would always be walking on eggshells wondering what they were thinking.
On the flipside, I have been eternally blessed to have found our group of friends. All are homeschoolers, but are the true, transparent, lifelong friends. We rejoice with each other's triumphs and cry with each other's tragedies. We all know the difficulties one another faces in their parenting/homeschooling journeys, but we love all of the kids as our own. Our kids have found more than friends, they've found siblings.
