Ain't He Purdy????
Tuesday, March 24, 2009

We bought Rachael a wig for "Crazy Hair" night at AWANA. Ironically, it matches Jeff's hair color. Yes, he must really love her because he agreed to try it on...but only in the garage. ...must make him feel more manly... ;-D

Day 361 - The Amsbury's & the 'Man Code'
Monday, December 29, 2008

We had lunch with the Amsbury's at a local Mexican restaurant. After lunch, I took the kids to their house so that they could play and Heather and I could talk. A little later, the men went out on a 'man date' that Heather and I set them up on. Apparently, men don't go to the movies with other men, but if they do, there are certain rules that must be followed. (ie: one seat must be left between them at all times; there is to be no sharing of snacks, etc.)(!) When they returned from the movies, we were enlightened with several of the rules regarding 'maniquette' which were quite fascinating, but unsuitable for a blog audience! ;-D

After our visit, we had dinner with Jeff's parents and headed home to a mess of Christmas boxes everywhere!

Day 321 - Happy Birthday Jeffrey!
Monday, November 17, 2008

Jeff is 38 years old today! My parents took us out to eat at a local BBQ restaurant for Jeff's birthday. After lunch, Jeff & I headed to a movie and dinner, then back to my parents' house for cake & ice cream....

Day 320 - Birthday celebrations Day 1

Jeff had to work all day, so I took the kids to my mom's house. We played cards and hung out until it was time for dinner at Jeff's parents' house. Tomorrow is his birthday, but his mom made vegetable soup and wanted to celebrate today. Rachael made him this card.

Day 315 - A GREAT Day!
Monday, November 10, 2008

Today has been an AWESOME day. For some reason, I woke up about 2 hours earlier than usual, and I wasn't even tired! I had two hours of uninterrupted computer time to read my e-mails, catch up on some blogs that I follow, and check my normal homeschooling & freebie pages. The kids woke up and ate breakfast while I did a load of dishes and scrubbed the kitchen. Mondays are always cleaning days because I refuse to clean on our family days! After breakfast, Rachael did her Algebra with no questions asked. She even told me how much she liked her Algebra program! While she studied for and completed her Science test, Nick played educational games on the computer. Rachael got a 'B' on her test - excellent, considering she's really using some challenging curriculum this year and she flunked her last test! She really studied hard this time. I was proud of her. The good grade must have really motivated her because she completed all the rest of her homework by 3:00pm - including researching for her Geography test and practicing her piano - all with no complaints! Since she & Nick finished everything they were supposed to do, we took the rest of the afternoon off. We made some no-bake cookies, the kids built a 'tent' out of Nick's table and our comforter, we popped some popcorn, and watched the movie "Madagascar" that Heather loaned us. After the movie, the kids even made up some sort of ball-toss game with a little rubber ball and our popcorn bowls.

Jeff is working really late tonight. It's now after 10:00pm, and he's just now on his way home. Tomorrow is Veteran's Day, so he wanted to get everything finished so he could relax and take the day off tomorrow. The kids and I had Navy Bean Soup for supper. It turned out really yummy! Even Nick (who says he hates beans) ate 2 bowls, and Rachael ate 3! I just used a bag of dried navy beans, about 2-3 cups of water, a can of cream of chicken soup, a packet of onion soup mix, some parsley, some celery salt, and a package of cubed ham. I dumped it all into the crockpot and cooked it until the beans were soft. It's still warming, waiting for Jeff to get home. It was really odd eating without him. We ALWAYS eat together as a family. Even when he gets home at 8 or 9pm, we'll usually eat a light snack to hold us over until he gets home. Since we knew he'd be extra late tonight, we went ahead without him. It was eerily quiet. (which is probably funny for most people who know Jeff!) He's freakishly quiet when he's not at home, but he's truly the "life of the party" at home! We're used to all his goofiness at the dinner table. It was a stark reminder of how I'm just not the "fun" parent of this household!

Day 250 - Boys & Their Toys
Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Whenever we go anywhere, we can't make it past a car lot without Jeff having to stop and peruse. Well, apparently that urge lies within the Y chromosome. Lately, Nick has acquired his dad's love for muscle cars. Of course, when asked which one was his favorite, he replied, "I like the 'pretty' orange one!"

Day 194 - The only acceptable part of the bathing experience...
Saturday, July 12, 2008

Nick HATES baths. Not the typical, "I hate baths" that most kids his age express. He LOATHES baths! As soon as bath time is announced, my laid back, easy going boy turns into a demon child. He screams, he cries, he begs... No, he's never had a "near drowning experience" or any other event that could explain his terror. The only acceptable part of the experience is afterwards when he loves to cuddle in the towel. Here he is cuddling with his dad, elated that we are finished trying to drown him... ;-D

Day 142 - My Handsome Hubby!
Wednesday, June 04, 2008

If you knew Jeff, you'd know what a miracle this picture is! This is the 1st short-sleeve shirt that he's worn in at least 7-8 years. (It's a long story!) Doesn't he look great? I'm a lucky woman!

Day 111 - More birthday festivities & fishing
Monday, April 21, 2008

After church, we went to my Mom's house to celebrate my birthday. She made spaghetti (YUM!), salad, & fresh strawberries (& cake & ice cream, of course!) After dinner, Jeff took the kids out in the backyard to their lake for some fishing. They caught several fish, but threw them back. Jeff wasn't in the mood to clean them! My mom, sister, and I stayed inside and played cards.

Day 62 - If the Women Don't Find You Handsome ...
Monday, March 03, 2008
They should at least find you Handy!!!! That is one of Jeff's favorite sayings! ;-D

I LOVE being married to such a handy (and handsome!) man. Since I decided I wanted the furniture in our bedroom completely re-arranged, Jeff had to install a new electrical outlet and cable outlet since there weren't any on that side of the room. Jeff and his dad worked on it while I went to a used bookstore and spent money that I shouldn't have!

Day 53 - Jeff's "other" woman
Sunday, March 02, 2008

The roads were too treacherous today for Jeff to get to work. We all had a good time hanging around the house. Jeff spent time with his "other" woman! He's had several basses since we've been together, but this one has the most sentimental value. It's an Ernie Ball 20th Anniversary edition. It was my gift to him right before Rachael was born. He has another Ernie Ball (a 5-string) that I bought him a few years ago, but this one holds a lot of precious memories!
