Halloween
Wednesday, January 13, 2010

For the past several years, I've been taking the several kids trick or treating in Princeton the night before Halloween (which is part of the town's 'official' trick or treating times). Apparently, this is a tradition no one else in the area has ever heard of! I guess P'ton people just like candy, LOL! Anyway, this year, we took Gracie & Julia and got a great deal on a hotel. The kids had fun swimming and the next day, Heather, Mary, & Sophia joined us for a morning swim before checkout.

County Fair - Day 2
Thursday, July 09, 2009

Rachael actually got a bit braver today, riding a few of the rides that she wouldn't have even considered yesterday. Then again, she is noticeably absent from the clown picture - yet another phobia that we'll have to work on!

More pictures... for some reason I liked the 2nd picture. Nick looked so cute waiting patiently for his turn. ;-D

County Fair - Day 1

We met Heather and her girls for a day at the fair. We bought all of the kids $20 wristbands which are good for 3 days of rides. Still expensive, but a much better deal than $1.50 per ride or an $18 one day band! Rachael, ever the chicken, didn't ride many of the rides, but she had fun nonetheless. Nick was a little upset because I didn't let him ride some of the larger rides (the ones that went upside down). I was afraid that, being so small, he might hurt himself. With the price of admission, rides, and food, we spent a small fortune, but it was nice being able to just hang out and have a fun day with friends.

Vincennes Rendezvous
Sunday, May 24, 2009

Since it was on our way home, we planned to take Thomas, Gracie, & Julia with us to the Vincennes Rendezvous on Saturday. It had been ages since we'd seen Heather and family, so we made arrangements to meet them there. We all watched the battle reenactments and fife & drum performances, then the kids were free to browse the encampment in search of souvenirs while Heather & I tried to find a shady spot to catch up. I was really proud of how well the kids all stayed together and showed a great deal of responsibility. As soon as I called Rachael's cell phone, they promptly answered and responded to everything that I requested of them.

After we left, we all went to a local steak house for dinner. The food was reasonably priced and delicious!

As I dropped each child off at their respective home, the kids were so gracious in expressing their appreciation of the trip. They all had such a good time...what a tiring, but wonderful trip!

Pictures Found
Monday, March 30, 2009

I just found these pictures on my camera's internal memory. They are from when Mary & Sophia spent a couple of days with us and we took all 6 kids (including Thomas & Ross) to Mr. Gatti's in Bedford and to the movies. Fun times!!!

Children's Museum

While Heather and Nathan were in Indianapolis for a medical procedure, Sophia & Mary spent a few days with us. On Friday, we took Thomas, & Ross with us to the Children's museum. Nick had never been through the museum and Rachael hadn't been since Nick was in the NICU at Riley. We made the mistake of going on a Friday which was also field trip day for every public school in Indiana (or so it seemed!) We only went to a few exhibits, but the kids had fun anyway.

Day 361 - The Amsbury's & the 'Man Code'
Monday, December 29, 2008

We had lunch with the Amsbury's at a local Mexican restaurant. After lunch, I took the kids to their house so that they could play and Heather and I could talk. A little later, the men went out on a 'man date' that Heather and I set them up on. Apparently, men don't go to the movies with other men, but if they do, there are certain rules that must be followed. (ie: one seat must be left between them at all times; there is to be no sharing of snacks, etc.)(!) When they returned from the movies, we were enlightened with several of the rules regarding 'maniquette' which were quite fascinating, but unsuitable for a blog audience! ;-D

After our visit, we had dinner with Jeff's parents and headed home to a mess of Christmas boxes everywhere!

Day 344 - Goodbye, old friend...
Monday, December 22, 2008

Today is bittersweet. I spent all day cleaning, and left the keys in the mailbox. Today is the last day that our old house was 'home.' Rachael was two years old when we bought this place. We have some amazing memories here. I love the house, but am excited to move back nearer to our church, Jeff's work, and our homeschool co-op. The saddest part of the day was going out to eat with Heather & the girls. I know that we'll still see them often, but it's just going to require more planning. The best part of the day was knowing that after weeks of working, I'm done cleaning and packing! (at least for awhile!) Now comes the unpacking...

Day 330 - Bloomington & Pictures
Saturday, November 29, 2008

We ventured to Bloomington today to sign our lease. After which, we went out to breakfast with Darla, Gracie, & Josh. Once we got home, I took our (possessed) van up to the dealership to be serviced. For some reason, the lights (both interior & exterior) flash for no apparent reason - even when the key is not in the switch!

For dinner, we met my sister at a local Mexican restaurant. We then went to see the movie "Bolt" where we met up with Heather & Mary. The movie was actually better than I had expected.

These photos are from the Christmas display downtown. I took the pictures hoping for a Christmas card photo, but wasn't thrilled with the outcome...

Day 329 - Crafts & Dress-up

We headed to Heather's house for an afternoon of Christmas crafts. The kids glued, glittered, and painted while Heather & I got in some talking time. After they finished their crafts, they played in the basement - making music and dressing up.

Day 312 - Chinese & Park
Friday, November 07, 2008

The kids & I met Heather for lunch at a local Chinese restaurant. While Heather & I talked, Rachael held impromptu lessons on eating with chopsticks & making origami swans out of the paper placemats. After lunch, we headed to the park. Rachael & Sophia played in the leaves, but I think it got a bit chilly for Nick & Mary. They decided to hang out in the car. According to Nick, they were playing "drivers licenses." ;-D
