Wilton's Cake Class
Sunday, February 15, 2009

Rachael, Gracie, & I are taking a Wilton's cake decorating class. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera available to take pictures of the finished product, but here is Gracie & Darla getting the cake iced and ready for class.

Ella & Alex

Alex is in love...

We took Alex over to Darla's house and he quickly fell in love with their Lab, Ella. Yes, Ella's foot is as big as his head!

Day 330 - Bloomington & Pictures
Saturday, November 29, 2008

We ventured to Bloomington today to sign our lease. After which, we went out to breakfast with Darla, Gracie, & Josh. Once we got home, I took our (possessed) van up to the dealership to be serviced. For some reason, the lights (both interior & exterior) flash for no apparent reason - even when the key is not in the switch!

For dinner, we met my sister at a local Mexican restaurant. We then went to see the movie "Bolt" where we met up with Heather & Mary. The movie was actually better than I had expected.

These photos are from the Christmas display downtown. I took the pictures hoping for a Christmas card photo, but wasn't thrilled with the outcome...

Day 306 - Back Home Again
Monday, November 03, 2008

After heading to a couple of yard sales and having breakfast at a local restaurant with Darla & Gracie, Rachael & I headed home. I didn't take any pictures today, so here are a couple from the overnight with Thomas & Gracie. While Gracie & Rachael were in the bedroom braiding yarn, Thomas & Nick played with the train set. That's one of the blessing of homeschooling. The kids don't seem to be concerned with age. The older kids are always playing with or helping the younger kids...

Day 305 - Trick-or-Treating "Co-op Style!"

We all met at Darla's house for pizza before heading out for trick-or-treating. The kids got dressed in their costumes and then all packed into the back of Shawn's truck to head to the nearest large neighborhood. It was mass chaos, so we eventually broke into two groups - the boys went one way around the circle and the girls went the other way. They met in the middle and then returned to Darla's to trade and sort candy again and to watch the "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." After some of the families left, we headed outside to warm ourselves around the fire and talk. The kids also had fun riding the go-cart around the neighborhood after they duct-taped a flashlight to the front of it! Jeff took Nick home, but Rachael & I spent the night...

Day 168 - God's Space & "Camping"
Monday, June 23, 2008

We traveled up to Bloomington for the start of VBS today. I was asked to help with the church's website again this year, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take the kids. VBS at ECC is HUGE!!!! They don't do a "boxed kit." Every year, it takes over a hundred volunteers MANY months of planning and hard work to pull off the biggest outreach of the community. This year, the theme was "God's Space" complete with characters "Norton", "Adell", & the villain - "Spam!" Since we now live over 2 hours away and VBS starts at 9:00am, our homeschool friend, Darla, let us "camp" in her driveway! Their camper was air conditioned and very comfortable. It was so plush that even my anti-bug, anti-dirt, anti-camping husband was happy!
