Day 184 - A Day at the Park

Today we met my friend Heather and her daughters Sophia & Mary. Heather and I were best friends in grade school and were supposed to be college roommates until I decided on a different college closer to Jeff. This was the first time we were able to get the kids together. Sophia (9) was adopted a couple of years ago from Ethiopia, and Mary (6) was adopted a few months ago from Ghana. Soon after the introduction, the girls found common ground. Like Rachael, they too, are rock hounds! They spent the next several hours digging in the rocks in search of fossils and minerals, and Heather and I were able to catch up on each other's lives. Unfortunately, we waited until the end to take pictures. By that time, the kids were absolutely filthy! They looked more like homeless children! Hopefully we can start hanging out more often and get better pictures the next time...
